"Everybody cut footloose"

So I'll begin this entry with a run down of popular summer movies I've been to see recently and give all you good people a run down...

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

This movie was all about being a big budget summer blockbuster...spared no expense.  We're talking fighting everywhere except space...maybe in G.I.Joe 2.  The effects and basic story-line were pretty outstanding I thought, I liked the backstory and it was basically true to what wikipedia tells me the G.I.Joe character's backgrounds were.  I'm also giving this movie some bonus attention because The Barroness and Scarlett were both very hot whenever on screen.  This being said I couldn't believe that there was a Wayan's brother in this film...rediculous.  Also something to watch out for, the dialogue was most of the time awful, I'm saying that even considering that they worked in all my favorite G.I. Joe tag lines like "knowing is half the battle" and talking about how some guy has realistic hair and a "kung-fu grip."  So while this movie was not on-par with say, Citizen Kane as best movie of all time I enjoyed seeing it and would recommend it, even if they played Boom Boom Pow during the credits and not American Badass like I had hoped.

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

From the good people who brought you Talladega Nights comes this movie about a guy who is called in to sell cars when no one else can.  Unlike the film above the dialogue in this film was hilarious and totally rediculous.  Basically everything about this movie was great, I laughed probably 99.99% of the time with the .01% being during the credits I saw while exiting the theater.  While raunchy and generally inappropriate I totally recommend this movie and say that if you plan to go, give me a call and I'll see it again.

Recently life has been pretty routine, I'm still sending resumes out to various places and looking for employment without much word in return but I'll keep it up.

Mark and Bizzy's wedding was on Friday and it was by far the greatest time I've had since the accident.  I've probably said this about other things, but this event has clearly outshined them all in terms of over all fun.  I thought the barn made an excellent location and gave an overall warm feeling, not just because it was hot for most of the afternoon either.  I'm glad that I got to help out and do what I could, everything seemed to go really well.  I even managed to get out on the dance floor and try some moves, I'd say only two times I got a less-than-great feeling in my leg from doing something but it went away quickly.  Mark did an excellent job picking out good time dance music and I even got in a slow dance with Jessica Porter...not to brag but we were a pretty graceful pair most of the dance.  Then it was basically back to the silly and really really white style of dancing that makes for a good time.  The after-wedding party was held at a local bar where most of the wedding party and several of us generally excellent people talked, lounged around, enbibed alcoholic beverages and just hung out.  Alan showed up totally dressed up and by that time my formal attire had de-volved into rolled up shirt sleeves, and unbuttoned top button and loose tie...I probably looked a little ragged and felt it too.  There was a good shot taken where we were clearly a scene of two men one of which had an excellent day at the stock market and then one who had not.  It made for a late night of getting down but a totally awesome time.

Today was Josh's birthday so I was invited along to go hang out at Dave and Buster's with his family and Holly.  Brian Burke came out after a bit and we played some serious games, after a bit the arcade games turned out to be not all that great so we played ticket games for great prizes.  I was on fire as I played this game with a big vertical wheel of spinning lights with 3 chances to win 1000 tickets and that's what I hit my first try.  Luckily Brian was right there otherwise I don't think anyone would believe it outside of seeing the tickets.  I also played this other game with a horizontal spinning light board where the bonus was 218 tickets and again...that's what I hit.  For some reason at those two moments my hand-eye coordination and overall synapse function was at it's peak.  All these tickets plus the others earned during other games turned into one giant rubber playground ball, four shot glasses (one for each of us) and some candy.  We all went back to Josh's house for ice cream cake and to hang out.  Alan and Mark came over so we walked to hoover and threw a frisbee and football around until it was dark, buggy and still really hot out so we walked back and called it a night.  I'm still kind of run down from the wedding but here I am up at this hour writing this so I must not care that much.

"He was 10 feet tall, with arms the size of tree trunks and a shock of hair, red...like the fires of hell."

So there have been a few things that have transpired since my last entry on here...maybe I waited this long because it took this long for something to occur.  Don't get your hopes up just yet gentle reader, that would be premature at this stage.  I write this entry today to mark that fact that I actually had a real life interview, making it my first in a long time.  Perhaps two weeks ago while looking around on the various job websites I regularly keep tabs on I came across an posting where Germain was looking for Sales Consultants.  Now I don't really have any car selling experience but I do have an extreme appreciation for cars and a appreciable general knowledge so I decided that it could be a pretty cool job so I sent in a resume.  Well I got an email back inviting me to a career event they were having and after sending my RSVP and looking around the company website I put it in the back on my mind.  Until today.  Because today at 5 was when the event was and I won't hesitate to admit that I was thinking about not going for awhile, I was nervous.  Luckily Brian B. was online and helped me psych myself up to go.  So I put on fancy businessman clothes and drove down the to dealership at Easton where I sat around with a generally older than me crowd and filled out some paper work and listened to a talk from Steve Germain himself, it was pretty cool.  Afterwards I got to sit down with a manager and just talk up some things, I'm under the impression that things went well and the guy was real cool so I'm hoping that I'll hear back from them soon! Tomorrow I have another interview with another company, I don't really have a lot of info on them which is maybe scary...but I'm positive about the chance to interview, experience is something I welcome.

This past weekend was tough at times with going to Brian's Dad's viewing/funeral/after-lunch.  It'd been a long time since I'd been any of those things and that was back in high school when Mike died.  I won't go into too much detail so far as to say having Mark and Emily and Carl at the viewing and Mark and Emily at the funeral settled me the needed amount.  The after-lunch was nice at Old Bag where we all made the mistake of getting wine...oh wine, I want to enjoy you so I can be fancy but you never really taste good, perhaps I should use better judgement when picking you.  On Friday I went with Brian to help pick up some of his relatives at the airport and was honored to get to drive Mr. Burke's Olds convertible...it was a nice ride, real nice.  Saturday night I had to break from that and get in a celebratory mood because Kristen took her big test.  I went out with her, Chris Scott, JW and Jessie to get some dinner and go to the shadowbox.  The show was a best of and while I had seen a good bit of sketches and music it was still great.

The hard drive in this laptop is crapping out on me...and this makes the second hard drive to do so.  The first one I know was my fault but I am at a loss to describe what has brought this on.  I've got everything backed up that I need so in case it does fail then I won't lose anything.  I'll probably look into new hard drives sometime soon, because that would presumably fix the problem for another few years.

"My new favorite cinema time period is the early 1920's..."

Deciding that seeing three movies is two days wasn't enough I went for a forth in only three days by going to see Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.  I enjoyed the first movie, it was a pretty original idea I thought and there was a nice mix of action and comedy throughout.  This movie delivered the same but on a much larger scale...we are talking about the enterity of the Smithsonian complex spanning several buildings and various underground storage locations.  I liked Hank Azaria as the main villian and had a good laugh at his performance as Kahmunrah.  A giant stone Abe Lincoln, 2-D gangsters and paintings you can jump into round out the zany cast and provide a greater number of locations for stuff to happen.  Thanks to Francine's comment the other day I would be remiss if I didn't mention the fact that I was extremely pre-occupied most of the movie with seeing Amy Adams run around in basically skin tight avaitor pants...I already thought Amy Adams was super cute anyway based on her previous performances but this was hot.  I'm also going to say that this characterization of a 1920's woman has cemented my love for women of the 1920's.  Remember Jennifer Jason Leigh in The Hudsucker Proxy?  I think it has something to do with the fast talking and general wit that is portrayed in both performances along with an independent streak and take on the world attitude.  Red hair has also become a big plus in my mind as of late so I'm giving it to Amy Adams on that one.  I'll have to remind myself to keep my eyes open for a woman with at least some semblence of 1920's attitudes.  I'm going to say that NatM:BotS was a movie that people who enjoyed the first film would continue to enjoy, if you hadn't seen the first one you'd probably still like it maybe but you'd be all like, "why is stuff moving? why's Ben Stiller here?" and other dumb questions.

"Behold the glory of Jetfire!"

Well again I have allowed several weeks to pass in-between my writing.  I have nothing new to report on the job front, as of this moment the businesses that I have applied to haven't seen fit to get back with me...thanks.

During the past few days I have been on a Sherman's march through Georgia of seeing movies.  I went along with Josh, Holly and Chong to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for the 12:02 showing on opening night.  I thought the movie was awesome, it has more intense robot action, bigger louder explosions, Megan Fox running in slow motion, zany new robots, and the shocking revelation that decepticons no longer just turn into war machines but also hot, hot college age girls.  This was also the first chance I had gotten to meet Josh's new girlfriend and she seemed very nice, hopefully I'll be seeing more of her as I probably see Josh the most out of anyone I know.  When Friday rolled around Dad and I were sitting around and decided that if we weren't up to anything we'd go see Transformers.  This time I got to see it on the IMAX and the sound didn't cut out two different times like it did at Marcus...good job dropping the ball there Marcus I really enjoyed the silent movie feel that I got for those times.  Anyway it was just as cool and perhaps more ear-shattering the second time around so I was happy with that.  After eating some dinner I hung out with Brian and Bethany, after some discussion of things to do it was decided that we go see The Proposal.  I hadn't really been that interested in the movie to begin with but I must say that I really enjoyed it.  Funny, a decent idea for a movie, Craig T. Nelson was in it, Sandra Bullock was mostly nude save an arm and oven mit like object for the majority of a long scene and at 40 something she was still looking pretty good.  I would highly recommend both of these movies with Transformers for action and The Proposal for comedy and Craig T. Nelson.  Today I was awoken early to go to a pancake breakfast benefiting veterans which was pretty cool.  I was surprised to get a phone call so early from Emily while eating so after returning home I called her up and we decided to hang out.  We got some lunch up at Sonic and went to see the movie Year One.  I don't think it was as funny as The Proposal, but there were quite a few laughs, and the movie on the whole was super rediculous which was funny in and of itself.  I thought Jack Black and Michael Cera made a good comedy team and the movie was a fun watch at only like 93 minutes.

"Beatboxing is the language of the dead..."

Again I have allowed a long passage of time to come between my entries so I will try my best to recount most of the shenanigans that I have been privy too as of late...

I've finished one side of the garage putting in insulation and drywall along with an additional shelf for stuff, and it's already full of stuff.  We had a garage sale to clear out some of the clutter and sold a decent amount of items, we had rock bottom prices so people who didn't purchase things really lost out on super deals.

Dad and I went to see Star Trek on the Friday it opened in theaters, even with an 8:30 showing we still ended up waiting in line.  The movie was pretty cool, I've enjoyed most of the other Star Trek movies and despite the differences in this one I found it really enjoyable, tons of action, a decent plot and some good acting.  I'll probably see it again before it's out of theaters it was that cool.

I talked Michelle and Josh into going to see Terminator Salvation at the midnight showing and it was clearly the most badass movie I've seen this summer.  Despite the negative press I read about it in the paper and on the internets I'm saying here on this space that few people probably read that the movie was awesome.  They paid some great detail to things from the previous films.  I guess I have to agree that the movie didn't have the "feel" of a normal Terminator movie because the scope was a lot bigger but I was totally cool with that.  All the images they put in from the other movies was pretty sweet too.  I'm thinking that it'll be a great set up for a last film to cover the time period from when John Connor becomes the leader of the human resistance until they send Kyle Resse back in time with that huge time portal machine Skynet uses before being destroyed.  What an ending right??

I hung out with Erin one afternoon to catch up and see how she was doing.  We got some lunch and played some mini-golf at Magic Mountain.  It was kind of a nice change since I ususally only talk with her online and I had long ago suggested that we hang out once I got my ability to walk back.

The other day I finally got to finish my motorcycle ride, it only took me 394 days!  I decided that I had made enough excuses about wating for it to get nicer outside or any other jive I was saying and took off.  I went down the same road and took that same curve that the last time I was on I wrecked but this time I made it just fine.  It felt like something I had to do, I had to go back and face it.  The bike is running well so it was really great to just get out there again, I'm looking forward to going on some serious rides this year.

Danielle was in town so I got to see her for the first time in a really long time.  I know I got to see her like once or twice last summer but she's been a ghost since then.  We just hung out, got some Rita's frozen whatever that stuff is and talked for awhile.  Then on a whim we went to see Angels and Demons because neither of us had seen it yet but really wanted to.  The movie was really, really good.  I never saw the ending coming, total surprise and the whole plot was real edge of your seat type stuff, they had Tom Hanks running around all over the place.  That was pretty much it for the evening but it was just really great to catch back up with her and hopefully she'll be back sometime in the near future.

I built a hanging loft and put it up in our building out in the back yard, we needed a place to put the giant tent that normally goes over the hot tub someplace that was out of the way and after several ideas this was the best one.  It came out really nice and after spending an afternoon using the air cutter sawing down the shelving the building is basically organized.  This is a huge improvement over the jumbled mess that was in there.

I've been able to hang out with Emily a few times of the past month and it's been a fun time.  We walked around in her neighborhood one evening and rented the Transporter 3.  Turns out that much as I believed, the Transporter is not "the gay"  because he totally boned the chick in that movie and was still with her at the end, and she was super hot but that's kind of the trend of girls in Transporter films.  Another time Emily came over and we went to see Bizzy and her new baby!  Just born and whatnot it was all little and baby like, it only made one sound the whole time we were there...that'll probably be the last time that happens.  It was nice to see that she was in good spirits and everyone was healthy if not a bit exhausted.

I'm still unemployed, no one I've sent a resume in to has bothered to get back with me these past weeks but I maybe have a lead that I'll look into.  The job would be pretty cool I think and within my abilities so we'll see where that leads.

Alan headed off to Africa and I made it out to the party for that which was a lot of fun, and so many wings... Turned out of the girls that was there was a girl that I went to middle school with so that was cool.  There was a lot of crazy stuff going on between Carl being Lebron James and the "I'm on a boat" song playing several times I couldn't get too wild because A. I dont' really do that and B. I can't jump around and dance all over because I'm not allowed...no unnecessary strain on my newly healed leg.

I'm pyched to see some of the other movies that are coming out really soon or are out currently like the new Night at the Museum movie and that pixar movie Up.  Both are more kid oriented but the first NatM movie was pretty cool and pixar doesn't make bad movies.

That's about everything I've been up to lately, this was probably a long entry but now you're in the know, and knowing is half the battle.
